Trip Advisor Review - January 21, 2018
We were picked up from our hotel early. The driver played great music while we all tried to wake up then gave us lots of useful information about the hike and very clear information about when we should try and finish the walk and what to do if it looked like we weren't going to make those times. We were slow on the walk, as my 10 year old son walked with me and we had to keep to his pace, but still managed to finish by 3.50pm and I was very grateful to see our driver had waited patiently for us, as all the other passengers had left on the 3.30pm shuttle. It was so good to relax in the bus on the way back and share our experiences of the walk. Turned out our driver used to run guided tours over Tongariro so he knew it well. He also gave us some great tips on good places to eat in Taupo and we managed to get to a couple and they were really good - aka Pauly's Burgers!!! Thanks for a great experience and making sure we made it safely back to base.
